Factor.am is owned by Factor Information Center NGO, founded by Arevhat Sahakyan, Avetik Ishkhanyan, Artur Sakunts, and Levon Barseghyan. According to the organization's response, Sahakyan currently serves as director.

As an NGO, the organization has no shareholders. Membership is granted through application, with the organization's president deciding on new member acceptance.

Voting RightsAccording to the organization's charter, the supreme governing body is the assembly, the collegial governing body is the council, and the executive body is the director. The assembly has final authority on all matters related to the organization's activities and management. Assembly decisions require a majority vote of all members when more than half of members participate. For organizations exceeding 100 members, one delegate per 10 members may participate instead. The assembly has exclusive authority to amend the charter, elect or dismiss the council and president. New membership applications are decided by the president. If rejected, applicants may appeal to the council, which decides by simple majority vote.

  • Arevhat Sahakyan

    Arevhat Sahakyan is one of the co-founders of the NGO. Since its founding, she has also held the position of director with breaks. From 2017 to 2020, she was also the editor-in-chief of factor.am. In 2020, Arevhat Sahakyan announced that she had decided to stop working. In 2021, she returned to factor.am, taking the position of director.

    According to the biographical information provided by the media outlet, Arevhat Sahakyan began his journalistic career in 1995, corresponding with the “Republic of Armenia” newspaper. Sahakyan worked at “Hanrayin”, “Ar” (currently not operating), “Armenia” TV companies, “Aravot”, “Zhoghovurd” newspapers, lragir.am, civilnet.am, A1+, 1in.am media outlets. From 2002 to 2004, she was an informed advisor to the Mayor of Yerevan, press secretary to the Chief Architect. From 2004 to 2007, she was the media manager of the Yerevan Construction Center. From 2008 to 2012, she worked as a media consultant at the Narek Sargsyan Architectural Studio.

  • Avetik Ishkhanyan

    Ishkhanyan was a human rights activist who founded the Helsinki Committee of Armenia human rights NGO in 1996. He authored numerous scientific works and publicistic articles. He died in February 2025.

  • Artur Sakunts

    Sakunts is a human rights activist and president of the Vanadzor Office of the Helsinki Citizens' Assembly. He frequently appears as an expert commentator in various media outlets.

  • Levon Barseghyan

    Barseghyan is a public figure and co-founder of the Asparez Club of Journalists in Gyumri. He was elected to Gyumri Community Council in 2012 under the majoritarian system. In 2025, he ran as the European Alliance party candidate for mayor of Gyumri but did not pass the electoral threshold.

    Vanik Hakobyan serves as editor of factor.am.

    He previously worked at Shant TV as editor of the Horizon news program and as journalist and video editor (2003-2007). He was editor at Lanj TV company in Ashtarak (1999-2001). Since 2003, Hakobyan has been a lecturer at the Faculty of Journalism at Yerevan State University.
