Print Media
According to MOM methodology, 10 media outlets with the highest audience share are selected for study in each media market. However, Armenia's print media market presents unique characteristics that require adaptation of this standard approach.
Armenia has no research agency measuring readership shares of print media, making audience-based selection impossible. Moreover, only eight newspapers currently operate in the Armenian print market—fewer than the 10 outlets the methodology typically examines. Given these circumstances, all eight newspapers were selected for the study.
The selection applied additional editorial criteria to ensure relevance: publications must have at least weekly frequency, focus on informative news and socio-political and economic issues, and be published and actively operating in Armenia. Publications targeting niche audiences or focusing on lifestyle, entertainment, or consumer topics rather than general news and current affairs were excluded from consideration.
The eight newspapers comprise three dailies, three weeklies, and two publications appearing three times per week:
Daily newspapers:
- Aravot
- Joghvurd (not published on Sundays)
- Hraparak
Three times weekly:
- Past
- Iravunk
Weekly newspapers:
- Azg
- Golos Armenii (Russian-language)
- 168 Zham
