Television
According to the Television and Radio Commission, as of 2025, there are twenty-eight television companies (audiovisual programs) operating in Armenia. Of these, twenty-one are licensed broadcasters: five with nationwide coverage, six with capital city coverage, and ten with regional coverage. Three channels operate as public broadcasters without requiring licenses: First Channel, First Channel News, and Shoghakat, which are operated by Public Television Company of Armenia CJSC and Spiritual-Cultural Public Television Company CJSC. The remaining four channels are foreign or interstate broadcasters that operate under interstate agreements rather than Armenian licenses.
According to the MOM methodology, 10 media outlets with the highest audience share are selected for study in each media market. The selection of television companies incorporated audience share data from Admosphere company's 2024 research on the digital television audience, identifying programs with the largest audiences. However, these audience figures were used only for selection purposes and are not included in the database, as they are disputed within the industry.
The selection applied editorial criteria to ensure relevance: channels must broadcast news and socio-political content and be actively operating in Armenia. Publications targeting niche audiences or focusing on entertainment, music, sports, cultural, or religious topics rather than general news and current affairs were excluded from consideration. Russian programs RTR-Planeta, First Channel World Network, RTR-Kultura, and the interstate program Mir, which are rebroadcast on Armenia's public digital multiplex but do not produce content specifically for the Armenian audience, were excluded from the research.
Considering advisory group observations, the H2 program was selected as the tenth television program. For many years, H2 was one of the private television companies with the widest coverage in Armenia. In January 2021, it lost its terrestrial broadcasting license and now broadcasts only via cable television.
Ten television stations were selected for the study in 2025.
