5th Channel is a television broadcaster that began operations in November 2018, founded on the basis of Ararat TV channel. The channel broadcasts interviews, news programs, educational and entertainment shows.


The channel maintains an active social media presence with approximately 195,000 Facebook followers, 103,000 TikTok followers, and 473,000 YouTube subscribers.


5th Channel is owned by Shark LLC, whose sole owner is Armen Tavadyan. According to media reports, Tavadyan is associated with Robert Kocharyan's circle. Both are from Nagorno-Karabakh. Tavadyan founded and led the Representation of Nagorno-Karabakh in Moscow from 1993 to 2005 and participated in the Karabakh war in the 1990s.

5th Channel is owned by Shark LLC, whose sole shareholder is Armen Tavadyan.

Voting RightsAccording to the charter of Shark LLC, which operates 5th Channel, the company's governing bodies are the general meeting of participants and the executive body represented by the director. The general meeting of participants is the company's highest decision-making body, with final authority on all management and operational matters. Regular meetings are held annually. Day-to-day operations are managed by the director, elected by the general meeting of participants. As Shark LLC has one shareholder (Armen Tavadyan), he holds 100% of voting rights.

  • Armen Tavadyan

    Armen Tavadyan founded 5th Channel in 2018 through Shark LLC, of which he is the sole shareholder. The channel was established on the basis of the former Ararat TV channel.

    Tavadyan led the Representation of Nagorno-Karabakh in Moscow from 1993 to 2005. He participated in the Karabakh war in the 1990s.

    In 2019, Tavadyan was charged with attempting to obstruct justice in the trial of former President Robert Kocharyan. The court terminated prosecution in 2022 due to statute of limitations.

    Media reports indicate Tavadyan participated in rallies supporting Kocharyan. When asked about potential conflict of interest as owner of 5th Channel, Tavadyan stated he does not interfere in the channel's professional matters.

  • Harutyun Harutyunyan

    Harutyunyan has served as Director of 5th Channel since 2018.

    He has worked in media since 1993, contributing to newspapers "Ayzhm," "Iravunk," and the "Past" news service. His television career includes Deputy Executive Director at National Television of Armenia (1998), Director of "Haylur" news service at Public Television (2004-2010), and Director of News and Analytical Programs at Public Television (2016-2018). He was Editor-in-Chief of "Yerkir" daily (2010), editorial board member of "Andin" literary magazine (2013), and member of the National Commission on Television and Radio (2011-2016).

    Since 2004, he has held 20% ownership in Idea-S LLC, which according to State Revenue Committee data engages in wholesale trade of perfumes and cosmetics.

    Andreasyan has served as Chief Producer and Deputy Director at 5th Channel since 2018.

    He studied at Yerevan State Linguistic University after V. Brusov. His career includes positions at the Administration of the President of Armenia (2001-2003), Council of Public Broadcaster as Head of Staff (2003-2013), and Ministry of Diaspora as Head of the All-Armenian Programs Department (2014-2015).
