Media Companies

The Companies database profiles 39 companies that operate 42 of Armenia's most influential media outlets. These companies represent first-level ownership structures, including operating companies directly behind media outlets and parent organizations that control multiple media entities. The majority are Limited Liability Companies (LLCs), with 6 Closed Joint-Stock Companies (CJSCs) and 3 foundations also operating media in Armenia. Information was primarily derived from the State Register of Legal Entities, supplemented by company charters, beneficial ownership declarations, and other public documents.

The diversity of company types reflects different organizational approaches to media operations. LLCs dominate the landscape, offering flexible ownership structures common in Armenian business. CJSCs, which include major broadcasters and the state news agency, operate under more stringent corporate governance requirements, including shareholder structures and board oversight. The three foundations operating media demonstrate alternative models where non-profit organizations carry out journalistic activities, often connected to political parties or cultural associations.

Each company profile documents ownership stakes, governing bodies, key personnel, and operational activities. The profiles reveal interconnections between media companies and their owners' other business interests, political affiliations, and family networks. By providing transparent information about the legal entities behind Armenia's media, this database enables assessment of ownership concentration, potential conflicts of interest, and the business structures shaping the country's information environment.
