Facts

Founding Year2008

Iravunk Media LLC was registered in 2008 as the operating company for media properties that predate its establishment. Iravunk newspaper, the Constitutional Right Union party's official publication, has been published since 1989.

Founder
  • Hayk Babukhanyan

Hayk Babukhanyan serves as president of Iravunk Media holding and chairman of the Constitutional Right Union party. He holds 52% ownership in Iravunk Media LLC according to the 2025 beneficial ownership declaration, though the State Register of Legal Entities of Armenia lists the Babukhanyan family stake as divided between Hayk Babukhanyan (19%) and his daughter Zaruhi Babukhanyan (33%).

Babukhanyan has extensive experience in Armenian media and politics. He served as editor-in-chief of Hanrapetakan newspaper from 1992 to 1993 and editor-in-chief of Iravunk newspaper until 1999. From 1990 to 1995, he served as a deputy of the Yerevan City Council. He was elected to the National Assembly twice: first from 1999 to 2003 through the proportional system via the Law and Unity bloc, and again in 2017 on the nationwide electoral list of the Republican Party. In 2021, he founded the Strong Armenia with Russia party.

Zaruhi Babukhanyan, his daughter, serves as head of the international relations department of Iravunk Media holding and is a member of the Constitutional Right Union party presidency.

  • Hovhannes Galajyan

Hovhannes Galajyan (1963-2024) served as editor-in-chief of Iravunk newspaper from its founding in 1989 until his death in 2024, with certain interruptions. He was a member of the Constitutional Right Union party from 1988.

In 1992, Galajyan became head of the political section of Hanrapetakan newspaper, the official publication of the Republican Party of Armenia. He ran for parliament in 1999 on the proportional list of the Law and Unity coalition but was not elected.

During the 2007 split within the Constitutional Right Union, Galajyan sided with party vice-chairman Hayk Babukhanyan and co-founded the splinter newspaper Iskakan Iravunk (Real Right) on February 27, 2007. He and director Gegham Grigoryan filed suit demanding reinstatement to their positions at Iravunk. The court ruled in their favor on November 20, 2007, and when Iravunk resumed publication on June 3, 2008, Galajyan returned as editor-in-chief.

Although Galajyan died in January 2024, the beneficial ownership declaration published in February 2025 lists him as holding 24% of shares in Iravunk Media LLC.

  • Gergham Grigoryan

Gegham Grigoryan serves as director of both Iravunk Media LLC and Iravunk Tert LLC. He holds 24% ownership in Iravunk Media LLC and is a member of the presidency of the Constitutional Right Union party.

Grigoryan has been involved with Iravunk newspaper since at least 2007, when he served as director during the intra-party dispute within the Constitutional Right Union. He joined editor-in-chief Hovhannes Galajyan in filing suit demanding reinstatement to their positions after the newspaper's publication was suspended. The court ruled in their favor on November 20, 2007, and when Iravunk resumed publication on June 3, 2008, Grigoryan returned as part of the leadership team.

A discrepancy exists in ownership documentation: according to the December 2024 amendment to the charter of Iravunk Media LLC, 24% of the company is owned by Levon Grigoryan (patronymic: Gegham). However, in the 2025 beneficial ownership declaration, the 24% stake is attributed to Gegham Grigoryan. No biographical information beyond his roles at Iravunk and the Constitutional Right Union party is publicly available.

  • Naira Zohrabyan

According to the State Register of Legal Entities of Armenia, Naira Zohrabyan was listed among the founders of Iravunk Media holding when it was established in 2008, though without financial investment. Her name no longer appears in State Register publications from 2010 onward.

Zohrabyan has extensive experience in Armenian media and politics. From 1999 to 2006, she worked as a political commentator at Armenian Times daily newspaper. In 2007, she created and hosted the political program Verelk (Ascent), broadcast on Kentron TV channel.

Zohrabyan was elected to the National Assembly in 2007 as a member of the Prosperous Armenia party. In 2009, she was elected chairman of the Standing Committee on European Integration Affairs of the National Assembly. She announced her departure from the Prosperous Armenia party in 2021.
