Armen Amiryan

Armen Amiryan (born May 21, 1967, in Yerevan) is one of the owners of Ar Radio Intercontinental LLC, which operates Yerevan FM, and Avtoradio LLC. He served as Minister of Culture of the Republic of Armenia from 2016 to May 2018 and as Executive Director of Public Radio of Armenia from 1997 to 2015.
Amiryan began his media career in 1982, hosting children's and youth programs on Armenian State Television. Two years later, he joined the Armenian State Committee for Television and Radio as an assistant director. From 1985 to 1997, he hosted news and political programs, musical and entertainment shows, and official events for state and national holidays. He created programs including Xchankar (Mosaic), Khachmeruk (Crossroads), Bari Luys (Good Morning), and Postarkgh (Mailbox).
In 1995-1996, Amiryan founded Ar Radio Intercontinental and the ArmenAkob Cultural Center. In 2000, he founded the ArmenAkob private television company, which later became the foundation for A-TV television company. He served as Executive Director of Public Radio of Armenia from 1997 to 2015, then joined the Council of the Public Television and Radio Company of Armenia from 2015 to 2016.
Amiryan was appointed Minister of Culture of the Republic of Armenia in 2016. In January 2017, ahead of National Assembly elections, he joined the ruling Republican Party of Armenia and occupied the fifth position on the party's electoral list. However, he declined the mandate following the elections and continued as Minister of Culture.
After Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan's resignation on April 23, 2018, Amiryan served as acting Minister until he submitted his resignation on May 2, 2018. Media reports later indicated that he had left the Republican Party of Armenia.
Following the 2018 change of government, Amiryan relocated to the United States. While serving as head of Public Radio of Armenia, he had acquired several properties in Glendale, California. He later sold one property and purchased a new house and apartment. In 2020, he founded Radio House company in Glendale.
A company named Radiotun (Radio House) operates in Armenia, founded by Vakhtang Karakhanyan, who holds 49% ownership as of March 2025. Karakhanyan, Amiryan's business partner, is identified in several online sources as chief producer of Avtoradio and Radio Yerevan.
Amiryan has held a 34% stake in Avtoradio LLC since late 2022. The company was founded by his nephew, Artavazd Amiryan. In the same year, Amiryan's wife, Hranush Amiryan, founded Novatun LLC, which is constructing a multi-apartment residential building in central Yerevan, adjacent to the Public Radio building. Armen Amiryan serves as director of the company and promotes this project on his Facebook page.
