    Karen Sargsyan is the husband of Kristine Sargsyan. He served as Minister of Internal Affairs of Artsakh (also known as Nagorno-Karabakh, a formerly disputed territory) from January 26, 2021, until January 1, 2024, when the Republic of Artsakh was dissolved. Sargsyan was born on December 18, 1980, in Stepanakert. He received his legal education and a master's degree from Yerevan State University. He worked in the state system for many years, holding various positions in the State Tax Service from 2004. On May 26, 2020, he was appointed Director of the State Service of Emergency Situations of Artsakh before becoming Minister of Internal Affairs.
