Armenia TV CJSC
"Armenia TV" is a closed joint-stock company. It was founded in 1998 by Bagrat Artemi Sargsyan, his brother Vahagn Sargsyan, his father Artem Sargsyan, David Sargsyan, and Sedrak Sedrakyan. At the time of its establishment, Bagrat Sargsyan owned 27%, Vahagn Sargsyan 9.88%, Artem Sargsyan 26.16%, David Sargsyan 21.51%, and Sedrak Sedrakyan 15.41%.
Official sources contain no information about the company's founders. However, Armenia TV's response to the inquiry states that the founder is "Panarm" LLC, established in 2011. According to the legal entities register, Panarm LLC's founders were Bagrat Artashes Sargsyan and Robert Hovhannisyan, each holding 50% at founding. In 2017, Hovhannisyan left the company. From March 2017, the offshore-registered Bennett Group became a 99% shareholder, with Bagrat Sargsyan retaining 1%. Media reports linked Bennett Group to Mikael Minasyan, former Armenian Ambassador to the Vatican and son-in-law of Armenia's third President Serzh Sargsyan.
Under Article 15 of the Law "On Television and Radio," foreign participation in private broadcasters cannot equal or exceed 50% of decision-making shares unless provided by international agreement. Bennett Group's 99% ownership in 2017 constituted foreign participation in Panarm LLC, the founder of Armenia TV. Since 2018, Robert Hovhannisyan has been Panarm LLC's sole owner.
As a CJSC, Armenia TV's shareholder information is not available in official sources. Media outlets have reported various ownership claims over time. According to media and journalistic organizations, American-Armenian businessman Gerald Cafesjian became a shareholder in 2001. Media reports from 2010 indicated Cafesjian's share passed to Mikael Minasyan.
Until 2019, Armenia TV operated within Panarmenian Media Group, which included television companies Armenia TV, A-TV, ArmNews, Panarmenian TV (USA), websites tert.am and blognews.am, and radio stations Radio Jan and Lav Radio. Media reports identified Minasyan as the real owner of Panarmenian Media Group.
In 2019, Panarmenian Media Group ceased operations. The announcement stated that 100% of Armenia TV shares belonged to the family of Artur Janibekyan, founder of Russian Comedy Club Production. According to the State Register of Legal Entities, Robert Hovhannisyan has owned 100% of the company since 2018. Hovhannisyan is the brother of Janibekyan's wife.
Panarm LLC is listed as an intermediate company of Armenia TV CJSC. Originally called "Panarmenian Media Group," it was renamed "Panarm" LLC in June 2012.The above-mentioned “Panarm” LLC is, in turn, an intermediary company of “PAMG” CJSC. “PAMG” CJSC was founded in 2001. This company operated as "CS" CJSC from 2002-2012 and, according to media reports, belonged to the Cafesjian family. It was renamed "Panarmenian Media Group" CJSC (abbreviated PAMG CJSC) in 2012. From 2012 to 2013, the company's director was Vazrik Sekoyan, who faces money laundering charges in the same criminal case as Mikael Minasyan.
