A TV
A-TV is an Armenian private television channel, formerly known as Armenakob TV, which received its current name in 2009. The station broadcasts a range of content, including news, political and entertainment talk shows, original Armenian TV series, and both local and foreign films. Since 2015, its programming has featured the Today news program, and the channel has collaborated with the Russian TNT network.
A-TV was part of the PanArmenian Media Group—a media holding that included Armenia TV, ArmNews TV, Lav Radio, Radio Jan, and the news website Tert.am. In 2019, the PanArmenian Media Group announced the suspension of its activities, citing the wishes of the shareholders of its member companies. Subsequently, ArmNews, Lav Radio, and Tert.am became part of Quarry Media, which itself was dissolved in 2022.
The channel’s founding and ownership history are notably complex. Official records indicate previous operating names—Armenakob TV (1999–2000), AS TV (2000–2009), reverting to Armenakob TV from 2009 onward—though the chronology is disputed in media sources. While some accounts state Armenakob TV was founded by Armen Amiryan in 2000, registry data from 1999 lists Armenak Sargsyan as sole owner with a 7.6% stake.
Over the years, A-TV has changed hands repeatedly, involving a network of family and business ties. Ownership at various times has included former Minister of Culture and Republican Party member Armen Amiryan, his wife Hranush Amiryan, his brother Arayik Amiryan, and other stakeholders. From 2008 to 2014, 40% of the company was owned by Hopar Media LLC—headed by Otari Hakobyan, father of Arthur Janibekyan, founder of Comedy Club Production LLC—while the remaining 60% was held by Vahe Ghazaryan, author of Sur Ankoun. Between 2014 and 2019, Bagrat Sargsyan became the sole owner of A-TV LLC.

| Meta Data | The founding information for the channel presents notable discrepancies. According to the State Register of Legal Entities of Armenia, prior names include AS TV (2000–2009) and Armenakob TV (1999–2009), though this timeline appears inconsistent. A more accurate chronology is likely: Armenakob TV (1999–2000), AS TV (2000–2009), and Armenakob TV (2009–present). Different media sources provide conflicting data; for example, Armenakob TV is often reported as founded by Armen Amiryan starting in 2000, whereas the 1999 record lists Armenak Sargsyan as the sole owner with a 7.6% stake. No data is available on audience or market share. Financial values are reported in US dollars, converted according to the Central Bank of Armenia’s annual average exchange rate for 2024.
